Nothing Ever Was, Anyway: Music of Annette Peacock is an album by American jazz pianist Marilyn Crispell, released in 1997. The album is a set of interpretations of Annette Peacock's compositions that move between free jazz and lyrical improvisation, featuring spare piano textures, subtle electronic colouring, shifting dynamics and an emphasis on melodic space, and it was a departure from Crispell's earlier, more intense free-improvised work toward a quieter, more song-oriented approach in her discography.
