The Bohemian Girl is an opera by Irish composer Michael William Balfe, first performed in 1843. The opera was written in the light operatic tradition of the mid-19th century, with lyrical melodies and orchestral textures that drew on folk material, and it established Balfe's reputation within Victorian opera.
