Symphony No. 6 "Pathétique" and the Romeo and Juliet Overture-Fantasy are orchestral works by Russian composer Pyotr Ilyich Tchaikovsky, completed in 1893 and 1869 respectively. Both exemplify Tchaikovsky's late-Romantic orchestral voice, with sweeping melodies, rich and colourful orchestration and marked dramatic contrasts, the symphony serving as his final completed symphonic statement and the overture-fantasy illustrating his use of programme-driven form within concert music.
