The Planets
Album by Gustav Holst & Sir Richard Rodney Bennett & Susan Bradshaw
The Planets is an orchestral suite by English composer Gustav Holst, composed between 1914 and 1916 and first performed in 1918. The seven-movement work employs extended orchestral colour, distinctive rhythms and evocative characterisation inspired by astrological ideas, and it consolidated Holst's reputation while influencing the language of later 20th-century orchestral and film scoring.
