The Four Seasons
Album by Antonio Vivaldi & Canadian Brass
The Four Seasons is a set of four violin concertos by Antonio Vivaldi, published in 1725 as part of his Op. 8 collection. The concertos exemplify Baroque programme music, employing solo violin with string ensemble and continuo to portray seasonal scenes through characteristic melodic figures, rhythmic patterns and tonal contrasts, and they illustrate Vivaldi's development of concerto form and programme writing in the early 18th century.
