The Fairy Queen

Album by Henry Purcell & Deller Consort & Stour Music Festival Choir & Stour Music Festival Chamber Orchestra & Alfred Deller

The Fairy-Queen is a semi-opera by the English Baroque composer Henry Purcell, first performed in 1692. Combining spoken theatre with extended masques of music, it employs Baroque orchestration, choruses and pastoral airs and dances, serving as a representative example of Restoration-era English stage music within Purcell's output.
