The Planets
Album by Gustav Holst & The Philadelphia Orchestra & Eugene Ormandy
The Planets is an orchestral suite by English composer Gustav Holst, composed between 1914 and 1916 and first performed in 1918. The seven-movement work uses large orchestral forces, bold rhythmic gestures, novel harmonic colouring and evocative tone‑painting inspired by astrological ideas, and it occupies a significant place in Holst's career and in early 20th-century orchestral music.
