Romeo and Juliet (excerpts) is a suite of orchestral excerpts from the ballet Romeo and Juliet by Russian composer Sergei Prokofiev, composed in 1935-36. The music combines sweeping lyrical melodies with sharp rhythmic propulsion in a late-Romantic to early-modern orchestral idiom, and it marks a key stage in Prokofiev's career as one of his most enduring works for the stage.
