Symphony no. 8 "Symphony of a Thousand"
Album by Gustav Mahler & Frankfurter Opern- und Museumsorchester & Michael Gielen
Symphony No. 8 is the eighth symphony by Austrian composer Gustav Mahler, premiered in 1910. A vast late-Romantic choral symphony that calls for large orchestral forces, multiple choirs and soloists, it blends monumental, hymn-like textures with complex orchestral writing and represents a culmination of Mahler's symphonic exploration of spiritual and philosophical themes.
