Leçons de ténèbres is a set of liturgical vocal works by French composer François Couperin, composed circa 1714. They are intimate, ornamented settings in the French baroque vocal tradition, using expressive melisma, slow-moving harmonic progressions and sombre textures to reflect their Holy Week liturgical function, and they occupy a distinctive place within Couperin's sacred output.
