Études d'exécution transcendante is a cycle of twelve piano études by Franz Liszt, published in 1852. The works are Romantic-era virtuoso studies that push pianistic technique with extreme demands — rapid figurations, wide leaps, dense textures and dramatic contrasts — and they represent a pivotal point in Liszt's career and in the development of the solo piano repertoire.
