Violin Concertos
Album by Sergei Sergeyevich Prokofiev & Carl Nielsen & Liya Petrova & Odense Symfoniorkester & Kristiina Poska
Violin Concertos is a set of two works for solo violin and orchestra by Russian composer Sergei Prokofiev, completed in 1917 and 1935. Marked by Prokofiev's combination of lyrical melody, biting harmonies and propulsive rhythms with clear, often bright orchestration, the concertos draw on late-Romantic and modernist idioms and occupy notable positions in his output as major contributions to the 20th-century violin repertoire.
