Symphony No. 7 in C major, "Leningrad", is a symphony by Dmitri Shostakovich, composed in 1941 and first performed in 1942. The work features large-scale orchestration and a blend of martial motifs with expansive, sombre and lyrical passages, written in the context of the Second World War and representing a major example of Shostakovich's wartime symphonic output and of mid-20th-century symphonic writing.
