Morning Heroes

Album by Sir Arthur Bliss & John Westbrook & Royal Liverpool Philharmonic Choir & Royal Liverpool Philharmonic Orchestra & Sir Charles Groves

Morning Heroes is a choral-orchestral work by English composer Sir Arthur Bliss, composed in 1930. Scored for chorus and large orchestra and drawing on wartime and pastoral texts, the work combines lyrical vocal writing, dramatic brass and percussion passages and vivid orchestral colour to evoke remembrance, and it occupies a notable place in Bliss's output as a post-First World War statement that marks his movement towards a more direct tonal idiom.
