Pierrot lunaire is a song cycle by Austrian composer Arnold Schoenberg, completed and first performed in 1912. The work employs Sprechstimme alongside a small atonal chamber ensemble, creating an expressionist, timbrally focused sound world that signalled Schoenberg's decisive move away from traditional tonality and influenced early 20th-century modernist music.
