Polonaises

Album by Fryderyk Chopin & Samson François

Polonaises are a set of solo piano pieces by Frédéric Chopin, composed and published at various times between the 1820s and the 1840s. They adapt the traditional Polish dance form into individual piano works characterised by stately triple-time rhythms, contrasting lyrical and virtuosic passages, and recurring national sentiment throughout Chopin's career.
