Piano Concertos nos. 9 & 17
Album by Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart & London Symphony Orchestra & Rudolf Serkin & Claudio Abbado
Piano Concertos Nos. 9 and 17 are piano concertos by Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart, composed in 1777 and 1784 respectively. They illustrate Mozart's development of the piano concerto genre, with the earlier work emphasising poised lyricism and classical balance while the later concerto expands the dialogue between soloist and orchestra, introducing greater structural complexity and increased pianistic virtuosity.
