Sheherazade
Album by Nikolai Andreyevich Rimsky‐Korsakov & Toronto Symphony Orchestra & Peter Oundjian
Scheherazade is a symphonic suite by Russian composer Nikolai Rimsky-Korsakov, composed in 1888. The four-movement work employs richly coloured orchestration, modal melodies and recurring thematic material to evoke scenes from The Arabian Nights, and it exemplifies Rimsky-Korsakov's mature approach to orchestral colour and programmatic writing within late 19th-century Russian music.
