Symphonie no. 2

Album by Jean Sibelius & Wiener Philharmoniker & Leonard Bernstein

Symphony No. 2 is the second symphony by Finnish composer Jean Sibelius, completed and premiered in 1902. The four-movement work typifies Sibelius's late-Romantic orchestral style, with expansive motivic development, vivid orchestral colour and a distinct Nordic character, and it marks a pivotal point in his career as the composition through which he consolidated a mature symphonic voice.
First released: 1987
