Sinfonie Nr. 1 d-moll

Album by Sergei Vasilievich Rachmaninoff & Filharmonie Bohuslava Martinů Zlín & Peter Lücker

Symphony No. 1 in D minor is the first symphony by Sergei Rachmaninoff, completed in 1895 and first performed in 1897. The work is in the late-Romantic Russian orchestral tradition, characterised by dense textures, expansive melodies and bold harmonic writing, and as Rachmaninoff's first large-scale orchestral composition it reveals his early compositional voice and had a significant impact on his subsequent career after its poorly received premiere.
