Symphony No. 9 in C major, D. 944 "The Great" is a symphony by Austrian composer Franz Schubert, completed in 1826. The work is a large-scale late-Classical to early-Romantic symphony characterised by expansive, song-like melodies, rich orchestral colouring and considerable structural breadth, representing a culmination of Schubert's orchestral writing that influenced the development of the Romantic symphony.
