A Ceremony of Carols

Album by Benjamin Britten & Cambridge Choir of King’s College & Simon Preston

A Ceremony of Carols is a choral composition by Benjamin Britten, composed in 1942 for treble voices and harp. The work combines medieval English texts with modal melodies, contrapuntal textures and vivid harp colour, and it occupies a notable place in Britten's choral output as a bridge between his earlier choral pieces and his later large-scale vocal works.
