Die Bratschensonaten, op. 120
Album by Johannes Brahms & Pinchas Zukerman & Daniel Barenboim
Die Bratschensonaten, Op. 120 are two sonatas for viola and piano by Johannes Brahms, published in 1894. Composed in his late period and adapted from earlier works for clarinet, they exemplify Brahms's chamber-music style with rich harmonic language, contrapuntal interplay and a predominantly lyrical, autumnal character that broadened the expressive range of the viola in the late-Romantic repertoire.
