Symphony no. 6 “Pathetique”
Album by Pyotr Ilyich Tchaikovsky & The Philadelphia Orchestra & Eugene Ormandy
Symphony No. 6 in B minor, Pathétique, is the sixth symphony by Russian composer Pyotr Ilyich Tchaikovsky, completed in 1893. The work exemplifies late‑Romantic orchestral writing with sweeping lyrical themes, stark dynamic contrasts and an unusually slow final movement, and as Tchaikovsky's final completed symphony it marks a culminating point in his orchestral output and has had lasting influence on the symphonic repertoire.
