Scheherazade / Capriccio Espagnol
Album by Nikolai Andreyevich Rimsky‐Korsakov & Royal Philharmonic Orchestra & Barry Wordsworth
Scheherazade and Capriccio Espagnol are orchestral works by Russian composer Nikolai Rimsky-Korsakov, composed in 1888 and 1887 respectively. They feature colourful orchestration; Scheherazade uses Middle Eastern-influenced melodic material while Capriccio Espagnol uses lively Spanish rhythms, and both reflect Rimsky-Korsakov's emphasis on orchestral colour in his mature period.
