Symphony No. 3 in E-flat major, Op. 55, "Eroica" is the third symphony by Ludwig van Beethoven, composed in 1803–1804. The work expanded the scale, structural complexity and orchestration of the symphony, introducing longer movements, extensive thematic development and a heroic expressive range that signalled a turning point in Beethoven's compositional career and influenced subsequent Romantic composers.
