Quintet « The Trout » / « La Truite »
Album by Franz Schubert
The Quintet in A major, D.667, is a piano quintet by Austrian composer Franz Schubert, composed in 1819. Scored for piano, violin, viola, cello and double bass, it juxtaposes lyrical, song-like themes with varied textures and a prominent set of variations drawn from Schubert's earlier vocal material, and occupies an important place in his middle-period output for expanding the expressive possibilities of chamber music.
