Symphony No. 1 "Titan" is the first symphony by Austrian composer Gustav Mahler, completed in 1888 and first performed in 1889. The work displays expansive late-Romantic orchestration, dramatic contrasts, folk-like motifs and innovative treatment of form and orchestral colour, marking an important early statement in Mahler's symphonic development and pointing towards the larger scale and emotional range of his later works.
