This release is a set of orchestral tone poems by Italian composer Ottorino Respighi, composed between 1916 and 1928. They are characterised by lavish orchestral colour, vivid programmematic depictions of Roman scenes and festivities, and represent a key phase in Respighi's career in which he refined his explorations of orchestral texture and late-Romantic harmony.
