Nelsonmesse (Missa in angustiis) and the Theresienmesse are two masses by Joseph Haydn, composed in 1798 and 1799 respectively. They represent Haydn's late-period sacred music, featuring classical-era orchestration, choral and solo vocal writing with dramatic contrasts, expressive harmonic shifts and concise formal structures that reflect both liturgical function and the tumultuous political climate of the late 18th century.
