Symphony No. 2, 'The Age of Anxiety' is the second symphony by American composer Leonard Bernstein, composed and premiered in 1949. The work blends symphonic structures with jazz-inflected rhythms and prominent piano passages, employing modernist harmonic language and varied orchestral colour, and it occupies an important place in Bernstein's early postwar output for its synthesis of concert and popular musical idioms.
