The Planets
Album by Gustav Holst & Los Angeles Philharmonic & Zubin Mehta
The Planets is a seven-movement orchestral suite by English composer Gustav Holst, composed between 1914 and 1916 and premiered in 1918. The music employs late-Romantic orchestral textures and early 20th-century harmonic language to evoke a range of moods and atmospheres, with vivid orchestration and varied instrumental colours, and it occupies a central place in Holst's output and in the development of British orchestral music in the early 20th century.
