Dizzy Gillespie, Volume 1/2 (1946–1949) is a compilation album by American trumpeter Dizzy Gillespie, collecting recordings made between 1946 and 1949. The set documents his pivotal work in the development of bebop and small-group jazz, characterised by rapid tempos, complex harmonies, virtuosic improvisation and early experiments with Afro-Cuban rhythmic elements that influenced the direction of modern jazz.
