Klaviersonaten nos. 30 and 31 are a pair of piano sonatas by Ludwig van Beethoven, composed and first published in 1820–1821. These late-period works reflect Beethoven's move towards a more introspective and experimental pianistic language, employing unconventional harmonic turns, inventive formal juxtapositions and passages of contrapuntal as well as lyrical writing that anticipate his final compositional phase.
