Clarinet Sonatas & Trio

Album by Johannes Brahms & Martin Fröst & Roland Pöntinen & Torleif Thedéen

Clarinet Sonatas & Trio is a collection of chamber works by Johannes Brahms, composed between 1891 and 1894. These late-Romantic pieces — two sonatas for clarinet and piano and a trio for clarinet, cello and piano — showcase warm, autumnal lyricism, rich harmonic textures and an emphasis on the clarinet's lower register, reflecting Brahms's turn to intimate, reflective chamber music late in his career.
