Petrouchka / The Rite of Spring
Album by Igor Fyodorovitch Stravinsky & Gerard Schwarz & Seattle Symphony
This release comprises two orchestral works by Igor Stravinsky composed in the early 1910s, one written in 1911 and the other in 1913. The music blends late-Romantic Russian orchestral colour with increasingly bold rhythmic complexity, polytonal and dissonant sonorities, and represents a major turning point in Stravinsky's output and in the development of early 20th-century orchestral music.

First released: 1996
