Pini di Roma / Fontane di Roma

Album by Ottorino Respighi & Minnesota Orchestra & Antal Doráti

Pini di Roma and Fontane di Roma are orchestral tone poems by Italian composer Ottorino Respighi, composed in 1924 and 1916 respectively. Both pieces exemplify Respighi's late-Romantic, programme-music approach, employing lush, colourful orchestration and vivid orchestral effects to evoke Roman landscapes and urban scenes, and they occupy a central place in his output as representative works that showcase his mastery of orchestral colour.
