Suites for Lute

Album by Johann Sebastian Bach & Kazuhito Yamashita

Suites for Lute are a set of instrumental suites by Johann Sebastian Bach, composed in the early 18th century. Written in Baroque dance-suite form for the lute and often adapted for other plucked instruments, they feature contrapuntal textures, ornate melodic lines and an interplay of polyphonic and chordal writing, and they occupy a distinct place in Bach's output as works that adapt and rework material from his other instrumental repertory.
