Trout Quintet
Album by Franz Schubert & András Schiff & Hagen Quartett & Alois Posch
The Trout Quintet is a piano quintet by Franz Schubert, composed in 1819. Scored for piano, violin, viola, cello and double bass, it features lyrical melodies and a prominent theme-and-variations movement drawn from an earlier song, and it forms part of Schubert's middle-period chamber output that helped shape the 19th-century piano quintet repertoire.
