Songs of the Auvergne
Album by Joseph Canteloube & Patricia Rozario & Philharmonia Orchestra & Sir John Pritchard
Songs of the Auvergne is a collection of folk song arrangements by French composer Joseph Canteloube, composed between 1923 and 1930. The work sets traditional Auvergne melodies for solo voice with rich orchestral accompaniment, blending pastoral folk idioms and late-Romantic orchestration and occupying a central place in Canteloube's output as a significant effort to preserve and present regional French song in the art-music tradition.
