Hungarian Dance Nos 1-21
Album by Johannes Brahms & Symphony Orchestra & Alfred Scholz
Hungarian Dances Nos. 1–21 is a set of 21 dance pieces for piano four-hands by Johannes Brahms, composed and published between 1869 and 1880. Drawing on Hungarian folk and verbunkos influences, the pieces feature energetic rhythms, modal melodies and virtuosic writing that Brahms later arranged for solo piano and orchestra, and they occupy a distinctive place in his output as folkloric, dance-inspired works alongside his symphonies and chamber music.
