Canticles

Album by Benjamin Britten & Cyrille Dubois & Anne Le Bozec

Canticles is a collection of five vocal works by English composer Benjamin Britten, written between 1947 and 1977. Scored for various solo voices and small ensembles, the pieces combine elements of Anglican church music, art song and chamber music with expressive word-setting and modal-inflected harmonies, and they occupy a distinct place in Britten's mid- to late-career output as intimate, text-driven compositions.
