The Planets

The Planets is an orchestral suite by English composer Gustav Holst, completed in 1916. The seven-movement score uses bold orchestration, varied rhythms and modal and chromatic harmonies to evoke distinct planetary characters, and it occupies a central place in Holst's output and in the development of early 20th-century programme music.
