Messiah
Album by George Frideric Handel & Royal Philharmonic Orchestra & Sir Thomas Beecham
Messiah is an oratorio by George Frideric Handel, first performed in Dublin in 1742. The work exemplifies Baroque choral and orchestral writing, combining recitatives, arias and large-scale choruses with continuo and orchestral accompaniment, and it was composed as Handel shifted from Italian opera towards English-language sacred and choral forms.
First released: 14th July 1992
