Two Sonatas and Two Romances for Cello and Piano

Album by Johannes Brahms & Giuseppe Martucci & Luigi Piovano & Antonio Pappano

Two Sonatas and Two Romances for Cello and Piano is a collection of chamber works by Johannes Brahms, composed between the early 1860s and 1886. The pieces are Romantic-era works for cello and piano, combining lyrical melodic lines, rich harmonic language and close conversational interplay between the instruments, and together they chart Brahms's development in writing for the cello from his earlier sonata to his later, more expansive writing.
