The Rosary Sonatas is a collection of violin sonatas by Heinrich Ignaz Franz Biber, composed around 1674. Scored for solo violin with basso continuo, the cycle features a programme linking each sonata to the mysteries of the rosary, extensive use of scordatura tunings and virtuosic, highly expressive Baroque violin writing that exemplifies Biber's mature style and his contribution to late 17th-century Central European instrumental music.
