De fire årstider
Album by Antonio Vivaldi & I Virtuosi di Roma (Collegium musicum italicum) & Renato Fasano
De fire årstider (The Four Seasons) is a set of four violin concertos by Antonio Vivaldi, published in 1725 as part of his Op. 8 collection. These Baroque concertos employ programme-driven writing, combining virtuosic solo violin passagework, vivid orchestral contrasts and ritornello form to evoke seasonal scenes, and they exemplify Vivaldi's mature concerto style while contributing to the development of the solo violin concerto in Baroque music.
