Giovanna d’Arco

Album by Giuseppe Verdi & Montserrat Caballé & Plácido Domingo & Sherrill Milnes & London Symphony Orchestra & Ambrosian Singers & James Levine

Giovanna d'Arco is an opera by Italian composer Giuseppe Verdi, first performed in 1845. Musically it shows Verdi's early embrace of Romantic opera, combining bel canto vocal lines with robust orchestral writing, dramatic choruses and solo scenes that mark a step in his development towards the more mature operatic style he would later realise.
