Symphonies Nos. 5 & 9

Album by Franz Schubert & Symphonieorchester des Bayerischen Rundfunks & Eugen Jochum

Symphonies Nos. 5 and 9 are symphonies by Austrian composer Franz Schubert, composed in 1816 and 1825–1826 respectively. The music traces Schubert's development from a lighter, classical-influenced orchestral style in the earlier work to the expansive, richly scored and thematically inventive approach of the later symphony, reflecting his move toward early Romantic symphonic writing and a broadening of orchestral scope in his career.
