Symphonies 39 and 40
Album by Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart & Freiburger Barockorchester & René Jacobs
Symphonies Nos 39 and 40 is a pairing of orchestral works by Austrian composer Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart, composed in 1788. They exemplify Mozart's mature Classical style, characterised by transparent orchestration, concise thematic development and increased chromaticism and emotional contrast that place them at the culmination of his symphonic output in the late 1780s.
